Flame Resistant
EkoTina silicone fabrics are inherently flame-resistant due to the protective properties of silicone. Designed without the need for added flame retardants, our silicone fabrics comply with international flammability standards, ensuring safety and environmental sustainability.
Flammability Standards and Tests for Materials
GB 8410:Flammability of automotive interior materials-Scope
This Standard specifies the technical requirements and test methods for the horizontal flammability of automotive interior materials. This Standard applies to the assessment of automotive interior materials.
The ASTM E84 (ASTM E-84)
This test method is a 10-minute fire test response standard that is intended to provide comparative measurements of surface flame spread and smoke density measurements with that of select grade red oak and fiber-cement board surfaces under the specific fire exposure conditions.
EN 45545-2 Regulation
This European standard focuses on fire safety in railway vehicles. It defines requirements and testing methods for materials and components, categorized by hazard levels (HL1 to HL3, with HL3 being the strictest). This part specifies the test methods, conditions and constraints for reaction to fire. Adhesives and potting systems must be tested in accordance with EN45545-2. The main parameters measured are flame spread, flammability, heat release, smoke opacity and toxicity.
British BS 5852 source 0, 1,5 (Cigarette, Match) and (Crib 5)
This test assesses the ignitability of fabric and filling material combinations under ignition sources such as smoldering cigarettes or match flame equivalents.
The different ignition sources are applied to a constructed test rig to examine the burning behavior of a test material.

CA Technical Bulletin 117 (TB117)
A mandatory flammability standard in California, TB117 tests upholstery materials using open flames and lighted cigarettes as ignition sources. While mandatory in California, it serves as a voluntary nationwide standard and is recognized by the General Services Administration (GSA).

European FR standards: EN 1021 Part 1 and 2
This EU-wide standard tests a fabric's reaction to a burning cigarette (smoldering test). It replaces older national standards like DIN 54342 in Germany and BS 5852 in the UK. The fabric must show no smoldering or flaming within 60 minutes of exposure to a cigarette. Parts 1 and 2 of the EN 1021 standard are used to assess the ignitability of upholstered seating. A smoldering cigarette and match-flame equivalent are used as ignition sources. Testing is a requirement for upholstered furniture that is designed to be used in public spaces, such as hotels, schools, and restaurants.

The Upholstered Furniture Action Council (UFAC)
UFAC standard tests the cigarette ignition properties of upholstery components. It evaluates fabrics and filling materials by combining them with standard components for testing.
